Great Minds Team at Finals!

Congratulations to Revere's Great Minds team who made it all the way to the final competition of Minecraft Level Up Los Angeles as best team in LA District West!

Revere had three teams that originally qualified: two 8th grade teams and one 6th grade team. The two 8th grade teams moved on to the semi-finals against one other school. And then our Great Minds made it to the finals.

The goal of the competition was to build a school of the future and showcase how the school is balanced and supports physical health, mental well-being and positive relationships while using technology thoughtfully.

Students worked in teams to research and build within a given time limit in Minecraft. The final competition for the middle school level involved building in front of an audience and then presenting what they built.

The Great Minds team designed and built a forward-thinking school model focused on achieving a healthy balance between academic growth, technology use, and physical wellness.

Their Minecraft build featured flexible, hybrid-ready classrooms and an expansive library to accommodate diverse learning styles alongside dedicated mental health calm spaces and an on-site farm to connect students with nature.

Operationally, the design integrated a late 9 a.m. start time to optimize teenage sleep cycles, block scheduling for deeper focus, and a 50/50 technology balance that restricts personal cell phones to foster genuine face-to-face peer connections.

Well done, Great Minds!
