Band
Beginning Winds
The beginning winds is a year long class for 6th graders who have no past experience playing a band instrument. The instruments taught in this class are: flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, bassoon, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and percussion. The beginning winds class has one concert a year along with the beginning strings class in May.
Patriot Band
This ensemble is the newest band at Revere Middle School. All band instruments are taught in this class and there is a focus on keeping this ensemble a smaller group than other. We keep numbers small so the can be more individual attention given to students. This class is primarily for 7th grade students and participates in all the concerts.
Intro Band
The intro band is a year long class for 6th graders who have learned a band instrument at their elementary school. Some students decide to switch instruments in this class to improve the balance of the ensemble. The instruments in this ensemble are: piccolo, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, bassoon, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and percussion. The intro band takes part in the two instrument music concerts, one in December and the other in June.
Senior Band
The senior band is a year long class for 7th graders who have participated in one of the 6th grade ensembles at Revere. The instruments in the ensemble are: flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, bassoon, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and percussion. The senior band often performs for the elementary school "Howdy Day" at Revere and has taken field trips to Disney Hall to take part in the LA Phil Symphony for Schools program. The senior band takes part in the two instrumental music concerts, one in December and one in June.
Advanced Band
The advanced band is for 8th graders who have participated in the 6th and 7th grade ensembles at Revere. The instruments in this ensemble are, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, bassoon, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and percussion. The advanced band has taken part in band festivals at other school sites and has won numerous awards. The advanced band has also taken field trips to Disney Hall for the LA Phil Symphony for Schools program and has also been to San Diego and San Francisco. This ensemble prepares the band members at Revere for high school band and the students are encouraged to join the band at the high school they attend. The advanced band takes part in the two instrumental music concerts, one in December and one in June.
Jazz Band
This ensemble meets during homeroom and rehearses during silent sustained reading time. Members in this ensemble can be in the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade but must audition into the ensemble. This is a big band style jazz band, the instruments in this ensemble are: alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trombone, trumpet, piano, electric bass, guitar, drum set and vocalist.
