Hello Revere Families,

Well...we made it!

Back in August, our newest 6th graders arrived with oversized backpacks, schedules they couldn't read, and one burning question:

"Where is my locker?"

Ten months later, they can navigate campus with confidence, open lockers in record time, and know exactly which staircases to avoid during passing periods.

As we close out the school year, it is amazing to reflect on how much our students have grown.

From August to June

This year our students successfully survived:

  • Their first middle school locker experience
  • Multiple mile runs in PE
  • i-Ready BOY, MOY, and EOY testing
  • SBA testing
  • Group projects
  • Homework assignments
  • Spirit Days
  • Field trips
  • The annual challenge known as Golf Tournament Parking

Through it all, they demonstrated perseverance, resilience, and growth.

A Year of Accomplishments

This year, Revere students:

  • Increased achievement in Reading and Mathematics
  • Competed in Robotics and Esports
  • Performed in concerts, theater productions, and talent shows
  • Participated in clubs and leadership activities
  • Supported our school farm and environmental initiatives
  • Demonstrated The Revere Way every day

A Special Message to Our 8th Graders

To our 8th-grade students:

It seems like yesterday you were arriving at Revere wondering where your first class was located.

Principal’s Blog – 5/24/2026

As we enter the final week of May, we are beginning to wind down another successful school year at Paul Revere Charter Middle School and Magnet Center. While there is still much learning taking place each day, we are also preparing for important end-of-year activities, field trips, celebrations, and student events. We encourage all students to continue demonstrating The Revere Way through Respect, Responsibility, Perseverance, Kindness, and Integrity as we finish the year strong together.

Last week, we also celebrated several outstanding members of the Revere family as they begin their well-earned retirements. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Schepps, Ms. Palcan, and Ms. Banner for their many years of dedication and service to students, families, and public education. We also recognize two additional retirees who preferred to quietly “sail off into the sunset” without public recognition. Their collective contributions have made a lasting impact on Paul Revere and our school community.

We also want to thank our families, staff, and community partners for their continued support throughout the school year. Your partnership helps make Revere a vibrant and successful learning community for all students.

Hello Revere Families, February is in full swing at Paul Revere, and our campus is buzzing with learning, connection, and community spirit. This month brings meaningful student projects, family learning opportunities, and a few important reminders to help everyone plan ahead.

We’re excited to kick things off with Farm Work Day, taking place from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM on the school farm. Families are invited to join us as we care for and strengthen this special hands-on learning space that our students love. Thank you in advance for supporting our farm and outdoor learning program.

Throughout the week of February 9–13, our students will participate in Heroes for Zero, an LAUSD energy-saving contest that encourages students to think creatively about sustainability while helping schools reduce energy costs. Students will culminate their work by submitting a video to the contest, with first place earning $25,000 for the school. We extend our best wishes to Mr. Matsubayashi, our lead teacher, and the students for their dedication and innovation during this exciting project.

On Monday, February 9, we will host an 8th Grade Homeroom Zoom meeting from 8:00–8:30 AM to review Culmination Requirements. This meeting is an important checkpoint as our 8th graders prepare for the end of their middle school journey.

Student support and family engagement remain a priority, and we are offering two virtual parent seminars this week. On Tuesday, February 10, from 12:00–1:00 PM, families may join a seminar focused on School Anxiety and Attendance Challenges. On Wednesday, February 11, from 12:00–1:00 PM, we will host a seminar on Talking with Your Children About Grief and Loss. We hope families will take advantage of these opportunities to connect and learn together.

Additional events this week include the Charter Lottery Selection on Wednesday, February 11, from 9:00–9:30 AM, and a full slate of activities on Thursday, February 12, including a school tour from 9:00–11:00 AM, a Learn About Applying for Leadership session during lunch, a Movie at Lunch in Room B1, and Department Meetings from 2:30–3:30 PM.

On Friday, February 13, Heroes for Zero continues, and we will follow a Minimum Day schedule with dismissal at 12:46 PM.

Please note an important traffic update for the week of February 17–20, when the Genesis Invitational returns to the Riviera Country Club. During this time, there will be parking restrictions on surrounding streets, including no parking or waiting on 26th Street and Allenford Avenue. Beginning February 17, private vehicles will not be allowed to drive through Revere’s West Driveway at any time. Only school buses, staff, and tournament-approved vehicles will have access, and all morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up will take place on Rodman Way. Families are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time, especially on Thursday, February 19, and Friday, February 20, when traffic is expected to be heaviest.

Finally, in celebration of Black History Month, families are invited to place pre-orders for Gwen’s Specialty Cakes, choosing between a Mini Sweet Potato Tart or Mini Peach Cobbler Tart for $2 each. Orders may be placed in Room B1. Students are also invited to join us on Wednesday, February 12, during lunch, for a screening of Hidden Figures in Room B1. This is a wonderful way to celebrate, reflect, and enjoy something sweet together.

Thank you, Revere families, for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to another meaningful and memorable February together.

Hello Revere families,

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Last Thursday, our campus was placed on a brief lockdown due to non-credible information shared on social media and group chats. While the information was determined to be not credible, we understand that this situation may have caused concern. Several families reached out regarding both staff and student behavior during this time, and we appreciate your communication.

This week, we will continue to provide social-emotional support through our Psychiatric Social Workers (PSWs). We will also review lockdown procedures, expectations, and responsibilities with both staff and students, emphasizing the importance of following all safety protocols calmly and consistently.

We also want to remind our community that sharing unverified information can unintentionally create fear and panic. We encourage families to rely on official school communication when concerns arise.

Principal’s Blog 5/3/2025

Hello Paul Revere Families,

As we enter the second week of May, I am reminded of the many ways our school community comes together to celebrate excellence, support one another, and nurture creativity. This week is especially meaningful as we honor our educators, highlight student achievement, and engage with the broader Palisades community in thoughtful conversation about the future.

We begin with Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, a time to reflect on the incredible dedication of the individuals who make Paul Revere a vibrant place of learning, safety, and growth. Every day, our staff shows up with passion and purpose, guiding our students with compassion and professionalism. I encourage each of you to join us in recognizing their invaluable contributions—whether through a note of thanks, a warm greeting, or a simple expression of gratitude.

Students are also reminded that the Community Service PE Assignment is due this Monday. This important project invites students to reflect on the value of giving back, encouraging them to demonstrate empathy, responsibility, and leadership in service to their broader community.

This week we will hold Make-Up Testing in Town Hall to ensure that all students are able to demonstrate what they have learned as we approach the close of the academic year.

In addition, that evening, students interested in joining the Palisades High School cheer team are invited to participate in Cheer Tryouts, taking place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Revere Gym. This is a valuable opportunity for our 8th grade students to show their athleticism.

On Wednesday, May 7, all students will participate in Cross Country activities during their PE classes. In the morning, we will host our PRIDE/PTSA Board Meeting via Zoom from 8:30 to 10:00 AM, where families and school leadership will collaborate and exchange updates. Later that evening, we invite all members of the Revere and Palisades community to attend the Palisades Community at Large Town Hall #3 at 6:00 PM on Zoom. This important district-wide webinar will offer the final update in a three-part series covering the rebuilding plans for Marquez Elementary, Palisades Elementary, and Palisades High School. District representatives will share the latest developments and respond to community-submitted questions. To ensure your questions are addressed during the meeting, please submit them by May 6. The Zoom link is https://lausd.zoom.us/j/82936294939 and the Meeting ID is 829 3629 4939.

On Thursday, May 8, we are proud to host one of the most anticipated events of the school year: the Literary Festival and Young Authors Evening. The celebration begins at 4:00 PM with a Book Fair in the Library, which will run through 7:00 PM. This event offers families the chance to explore a variety of books and support student literacy. Thanks to our generous PRIDE Booster Club, complimentary food carts will be available, making it a perfect occasion to gather with friends and family over a shared love of reading.

At 5:30 PM, we will gather in the Quad for our 21st Annual Young Authors Evening. This is a truly special moment for our school community, as students whose work has been published in the Paul Revere Literary Anthology will read their original pieces aloud. Each published student will also receive a printed copy of the anthology. In addition to the readings, student artwork—created in response to the anthology—will be beautifully displayed, showcasing the creative connections between writing and visual art. This evening is a celebration of imagination, voice, and achievement, and we hope to see many families in attendance.

For those continuing with the Pali High Cheer Tryouts, they will take place again from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Revere Gym on May 8th.

We close out the week on Friday, May 9, with an exciting off-campus opportunity. Selected students will participate in a field trip to Warner Bros. Studio, from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. This excursion offers an immersive look into the entertainment industry and the storytelling process—an exciting way to connect classroom learning with real-world experience.

This week at Paul Revere reflects the richness of our school culture—from academic rigor and creative exploration to athletic opportunity and community dialogue. Whether you are joining us to thank our educators, support student writers and artists, or participate in a town hall about the future of our schools, your involvement is what makes Revere truly exceptional.

Dear Paul Revere Families,

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued patience and understanding as we work diligently to ensure a safe and welcoming campus for all of our students and staff. Your support is invaluable during this time, and we appreciate your cooperation as we navigate these efforts.

This weekend, lockers will be thoroughly cleaned, and all contents will be bagged and available for parents to decide how they would like to proceed. As we move into the upcoming week, please be aware that physical education (PE) classes will not require students to dress out until later in the week, allowing families time to provide clean PE clothing for their students. We will notify you of the specific date.

Additionally, our Revere Cares program continues to support families impacted by the recent fires, and we are grateful to our parent group for their ongoing efforts to assist in the recovery.

There are a number of important events happening this week that we’d like to highlight:

  • Wednesday, January 29 and Friday, January 31: 8th Grade Culmination Photos
  • Thursday, January 30: We will begin our ELA i-Ready assessments, with a special bell schedule in place
  • Monday, February 4: Math i-Ready testing will begin

We appreciate your partnership in ensuring that our students continue to thrive despite the challenges we’ve faced. Thank you again for your support as we move forward together.

Back to SchoolThank you to everyone who attended Coffee with the Principal on Thursday. I will host these meetings on the first Thursday of each month (unless school is closed). I encourage parents to join us as we review district information and school announcements. We always allocate time for questions and concerns.

Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday, August 29th. This event provides an opportunity for teachers to share what students will learn throughout the school year. It is also a chance to meet PRIDE members, administrators, and fellow families. During this time, a book fair will be held in the library along with other activities. All PE classes will convene in the Auditorium. The schedule for the evening is as follows:

Please remember to utilize the crosswalk at Brinkley and to be considerate by avoiding blocking our neighbors' driveways. Our goal is to maintain a safe and welcoming school community.

Thank you, Revere Families, for your continued support!

August 16, 2024

Keep Calm We’ve successfully completed our first week of school! A heartfelt thank you to the Revere families for ensuring your students arrive at school daily and on time. Your commitment is truly appreciated, and we recognize the challenges that come with it.

To our students, thank you for bringing your positive energy and sharing your wonderful summer stories!

This week, we conducted our iReady math diagnostic assessment in math class. Next week, we will continue with the iReady assessments for ELA. Additionally, Revere held its inaugural Paint and Chill activity, where students painted alongside an artist to create beautiful works of art. We will host more exciting lunchtime activities throughout the school year to keep our students engaged in fun experiences.

We also conducted our first emergency drill, where students practiced drop-cover-and-hold techniques and learned how to quickly evacuate their classrooms to the field. Importantly, Mr. Evans and Ms. Kollatz reviewed our school policies with all students, including our tardy policy, dress code, cell phone/electronics policy, and school-wide behavior expectations. Families, starting next week, we will begin to enforce all of these policies. Please take a moment to review the dress code and cell phone policies with your students, as these tend to cause some confusion.

Next week, our counselors will lead our Homeroom Assemblies, where students will collaborate with counselors on good study habits, tips for success, lunch clubs, leadership events, and social-emotional health supports. Additionally, this Thursday, August 22nd, at 8:30 am, please join me for Coffee with the Principal via Zoom (Meeting ID: 893 7084 0067
Passcode: PRCMS25). We will discuss our District’s Every Schools Safe Video and share updates about Revere. I look forward to connecting with you soon!

Lastly, I want to emphasize the importance of driving safely and allowing ample time for drop-off and pick-up. Parents, please utilize the crosswalk at Brinkley. I understand it may be inconvenient, but it is the safest option. Let’s be considerate and avoid blocking our neighbors' driveways. Our goal is to maintain a safe and welcoming school community.

Thank you, Revere Family, for being the best!

The commitment to teacher excellence has been vital to our success. This focus on professional development and a positive atmosphere is essential for our students’ achievements and overall well-being.

I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for our engaged parent community. Your involvement in enhancing our school facilities and resources last year has made a significant impact, and we are excited about the continuous improvements ahead. Your contributions and enthusiasm are invaluable, and they play a pivotal role in our school's ongoing success.

As we embark on this new school year, we will continue to uphold the guiding principles of the Revere Way: respect, responsibility, integrity, kindness, and perseverance. Please stay connected, as together we can achieve incredible things. If you ever need to reach me, my contact information is [email protected]  or through the Main Office at  (310) 917-4800.

Thank you once again for the honor of being your Principal. I am excited for another year filled with growth, achievement, and collaboration. Together, we will ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

 Welcome to March 2024!

This week Revere will serve as a voting location for residents. Early voting will begin Saturday, March 2nd through Monday, March 4th from 10am until 7pm in our school library. On election day, Tuesday, March 5th, voting will be available from 7am until 8pm in the school library. During school hours, you will need to park in the neighborhood. You may access the library, through the gate directly adjacent to the library. There will be staff members to support voters with entering and exiting campus.

Also starting this week, our Leadership students will host their annual fundraiser, Pennies for Patients, which supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Please stay tuned for more information from Mr. Bilek and his amazing leadership team.

Supported by our cultural arts program, Revere staff will escort a second group of students to see The Wiz at the Pantages Theater. This play reimagines the classic novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Furthermore, selected classes will also visit the LA Zoo next week, which is sure to be a fun learning experience. And for the grand finale, we will have a group of students traveling to Northern California to visit the state’s capital, pan for gold and visit several historic museums. Then they are off to San Francisco to learn about Alcatraz Island, ride historic cable cars, and visit the Exploratorium museum.

Now for parents, there is a PRIDE/PTSA board meeting on Wednesday, March 6th via Zoom. All are welcome to attend. You can find the meeting information on our school calendar at https://www.paulreverems.com/calendar.jsp

This causes temporary closures which is a great inconvenience for students. We will hold homeroom talks with our students to remind them of our expectations.

As many may also know, March is Women’s History Month. This is a time to celebrate the contributions and achievements women have made over the course of American history. Here is a simple article that you may want to read with your student.

Thank you for your time, and I wish everyone a wonderful weekend.

February 17, 2024

Let’s follow up a busy week with a long weekend! That’s right, this Monday, February 19th school is closed in observance of President’s day. I hope everyone is well rested for the upcoming week which is packed with multiple activities.

On Tuesday, February 20th Anna Riley (PSW) will present a parent seminar titled, “How to Talk to Your Child About Drugs and Alcohol” . This seminar will be held over Zoom from 6pm-7pm .Please check our website at www.paulreverems.com for more information. Eighth grade families, don’t forget that culmination photos will be taken Wednesday (2/21) and Friday (2/23) in Town Hall. Our BSU will host two events next week. First, on Wednesday, students may participate in listening to guest speaker, founder of Shero Comics, Shequeta Walker. Second, during lunch on Thursday, students can sign up to be led through a painting activity with an artist in Town Hall. Finally, on Thursday, we will hold our drop-cover-hold emergency drill. As a reminder, we will close campus when the drill begins and reopen when the drill ends.

Next week we are expecting another inclement weather schedule. The District is prepared with alternate plans for impacted areas. They will be in direct contact with families if schools are affected, and the Los Angeles Unified parent hotline at 213.443.1300 is available for families who may have questions or need additional support.

I want to thank everyone for their patience during the Genesis Invitational. We know it was an inconvenience, however donations allow our parent group, PRIDE to support our school, students and staff.

I hope everyone has a safe weekend.

February 10, 2024

Well another week has come and gone. Our conversations continue to focus on school safety and I am pleased to say that our School Police Department is listening and working on how to extend their presence on campus. In addition, the District is working to expedite the process of installing cameras. Our plans for installation are approved and materials are being ordered. And this Monday I will be speaking with our students regarding the current safety concerns. I want to thank parents for speaking up and being advocates for Revere. Administrators are holding weekly office hours on Friday from 9am-10pm on a rotating schedule. The Zoom link can be found on our school website

Both Valentine's Day and the Lunar New Year are upon us. Our Leadership students sold grams last week and will hold a bake sale on Valentine’s Day during lunch time. LAUSD will also be facilitating a parent workshop on Mental Health and Wellness via Zoom from that day from 11 am-12:00 pm (Meeting ID: 847 8870 8406).

Our Black Student Union is hosting various events for Black History Month. On Monday, Feb. 12th, there will be a guest speaker. Journalist Sam Sanders, will be speaking in the Library during lunch. There will also be music and dancing in the quad on Friday. Finally, on Saturday, February 17th, we will have our first trip to the Pantages Theater to see The Wiz. (Students will meet at Brentwood Science Magnet due to the golf tournament.)

Just as a reminder, the Genesis Invitational Golf Tournament is next week from February 15th-18th at the Riviera Country Club. This will cause an increase in traffic. Parents will not have access to the West Driveway. All pick-up and drop-off will be in the front of school in the circular driveway. In addition, there are left hand turn restrictions from Sunset onto Allenford and from Sunset and Mandeville Canyon in the afternoon-early evening. After school activities and late buses are canceled. More detailed information is on Schoology. We ask that you exercise patience during this time. The tournament supports PRIDE which is great for Revere. Last, but not least, this Friday, February 16th, is a Minimum day. School will dismiss at 12:43pm.

Have a great weekend and Super Bowl Sunday for all of the football fans! See you all next week.

February 3, 2024

Hello Revere Families,

First, I would like to thank everyone for participating in the Coffee with the Principal on Friday. Many questions were answered around safety and how Revere will overcome such safety concerns in the future. We are working on putting the questions that were answered in a file for everyone to access by the end of next week. In addition, Revere’s administration is working on a presentation for students pertaining to appropriate social media use and consequences for inappropriate usage. I will let you know what dates these assemblies will take place.

As many are aware, it is anticipated that Los Angeles will experience an inclement weather system next week. Revere is prepared with necessary emergency supplies if needed and administration will be on campus early Monday morning to ensure that any concerns with facilities are addressed.

There are several activities scheduled for the upcoming week. Our Leadership students will sell Valentine's grams during lunch. There is a PRIDE/PTSA meeting on Wednesday, February 7th at 8:30am. Please come to hear what new and exciting things our parents are planning. This meeting will be held via Zoom ( Meeting Id: 816 8395 5463 Password: PRIDE). There is a School Tour on Thursday, February 9th at 9am in the auditorium. If you are a prospective parent and would like to see our classrooms and campus, please do attend. You will be amazed at how wonderful Revere students, staff, and parents are as they lead you through the campus. Sign-ups are on our website. If you are a current Revere parent and looking to volunteer at the tour, please contact Ms. Elana Mabashov ([email protected]). Finally, on Saturday, February 10th we will have our Farm Day from 9-12pm. Please contact Ms. Robertson through Schoology for more information.

Thank you for your time. I hope for everyone to have a safe weekend.

January 26, 2024

I hope everyone is well as we head into the weekend. As conveyed earlier this week, we experienced an unfortunate incident at Revere and I would be remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to stress the importance of monitoring your student’s use of social media and knowing which accounts they have access to. There have been incidents where our students have made inappropriate posts without their parent’s knowledge. If you are a novice with social media, you may find it helpful to watch the following two videos from Common Sense Education, titled, “Social Media Basics for Parents” and “Parenting in a Digital Age”. Each video is short and provides important information. I would recommend taking some time to look at them for your own reference. At Revere, we provide staff and students with Digital Citizenship lessons throughout the year.

This week, most students have completed their iReady assessments. Teachers will reach out to provide you with information regarding your student’s progress shortly.

Next week, our Leadership program will start selling Valentine's grams during lunch for the entire week. On January 30th, Anna Riley (PSW) will hold a Parent Education Workshop on Substance Use Awareness from 6pm-7pm on Zoom. Finally, on Friday, February 2nd, we will have our Coffee with the Principal at 9am via Zoom. At that time, I will review Cyber Security along with other topics.

In closing, I hope that everyone has a safe and restful weekend. Take care, and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

Please click on the link to participate in the survey https://forms.gle/TJagArfSnQw9XtKP9 .

I know that I sound like a broken record. However, I would like to remind you to not jay-walk across Allenford. Please be patient and allow your student to use the crosswalk at Brinkley. Additionally, please remember to respect our neighbors by not blocking their driveways or moving their trash cans to park.

Thank you for your time and have a wonderful and restful weekend!

January 12, 2024

Welcome to the Spring semester! I hope everyone had a wonderful break. Revere has completed the first week of the semester and with that we have some great activities planned. Ms. Gualano kicked off the year with our field trips to the LA Zoo, Science Center and Discovery Cube. Ms. Rivas will hold a Great Kindness Challenge starting the week of January 22nd where she will host fun activities with students and staff. Ms. Riley, our PSW will hold a Parent Workshop titled, Substance Use Awareness on January 30th from 6pm-7pm via zoom. Information can be found on our website. Revere would like to thank the Office of LAUSD Board Member Nick Melvoin for selecting us to receive security cameras. Senior Advisor and District Director, Allison Holdorff Polhill provided parents with this information during the PRIDE board meeting this week. The project will occur in phases and be completed by the 2026 school year. PRIDE will also be sending out a survey to parents to prioritize the additional safety and beautification projects at Revere. So please be on the look-out for that survey soon.

Safety is always our number one priority. I would like to remind you to not jay-walk across Allenford. Please be patient and allow your student to use the crosswalk at Brinkley. Additionally, please remember to respect our neighbors by not blocking their driveways or moving their trash cans to park.

Finally, school will be closed this Monday, January 15, 2024 in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. I hope everyone has a wonderful extended weekend.

December 15, 2023

 Hello Revere Families,

As our first semester of school comes to an end, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and dedication to ensuring Revere Charter Middle School and Magnet maintains a welcoming learning environment. We value opportunities where all students are invited to participate in a variety of learning activities which are academically enriching and fulfilling. Simply take a moment to watch the videos of our Spirit Series performances and Winter Concerts, or read our Town Crier to see our students in action.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank PRIDE and our generous community for their continued support of Revere’s holiday celebration. Parents were very generous with their donations, including providing desserts, raffle gifts, and time to set up and clean up after the event. Furthermore, I’d like to recognize parent volunteers; Pablo and Rosario Hernandez, their son Anthony, and Mr. Amos for their time and efforts to bring our gym back to sparkling condition. Thanks to the other parents who came out on a Saturday to lend a hand Sarah Goldsmith, Jeff and Max Konecke, and Aucileia Rosa.

It is my wish that you all take time for yourselves. Enjoy your families and friends, eat well, laugh often and enjoy the beauty the holidays bring. I look forward to seeing everyone in the new year. Until then, take care.

Warmly,

Dr. Anthony

December 8, 2023

 Greetings Revere Families,

What a week! On Wednesday, Revere administration hosted a Town Hall, with our PRIDE President and Co-President; Ghazal Yashouafar and Monica Otero, Local District staff; Ms. Robinson and Ms. Wantz; LA School Police Sergeant Barti, and Board Member Representative, Allison Holdorff-Polhill from the Office of Nick Melvoin. Currently we are securing cost estimates on privacy fencing near Sunset.

Next week is our last week of school before winter break. Please make sure you are checking Schoology and connecting with teachers to ensure all student work is turned in. You can reach teachers through Schoology or by going to our staff directory on our website at

On Monday, PRIDE will host a Family Breakfast in the Auditorium Garden. Do come out and meet our PRIDE board members, school administrators, and other parents while enjoying some great food and coffee. While you are here, drop off a toy or canned food as a part of our toy drive, hosted by our Leadership students and by our Community Service Club. All donations can be left in the Main Office. It’s not too late to sign your student up for Winter Academy from December 18-20 at Webster MS. Student applications can be found in the Main Office.

Our 6th grade students will take field trips next week to the Kirk Douglas Theater. They will get to see Dog Man based on the graphic novel series by Dav Pilkey. Winter concerts are here! Come and enjoy our Winter Concerts in our auditorium. The dates and times are as follows:

  • Tuesday, December 12th at 6pm-Choir

  • Thursday, December 14th at 6pm-Band

Finally, this Friday, December 15th is not only the last day of instruction before winter break, it is also a minimum day. School ends at 12:43pm. Remind your students to check the lost and found for that jacket or lunch box they can’t seem to find. Oh and don’t forget to bring home PE clothes that may need laundering.

December 2, 2023

 Hello Revere Families,

How quickly did this week come and go! Today our parents had the opportunity to view a video from our Every School Safe campaign on Preventing School Violence. In addition, the administration will hold grade level assemblies to review a similar video from our Every School Safe campaign on Preventing School Violence. After this video presentation, administration will review school-wide behavior expectations by grade level.

Our Sixth Grade Magnet students enjoyed their culminating activity at UCLA on Monday, November 27th. Students had the opportunity to present their Seismic Outreach group building projects to professional and student engineers. Students also participated in various other activities including a school tour.

It’s that time again! Our Leadership students are conducting a Toy Drive which continues through Dec. 13th. Bring a new or unopened toy to K1 before school or during Homeroom and receive a sweet treat. Leadership students are also selling Holiday Grams. Sales continue through Friday, Dec. 8th and are $1 per gram. Students may purchase grams during lunch by the Student Store. Grams will be delivered the last week of the semester. The Community Service Club is also hosting a canned food drive. Please bring your donations to the Main Office.

There will be a Town Hall meeting for parents this Wednesday, December 6th in the Auditorium starting at 6pm. Revere administration will address questions presented by parents and community members. Please see our website at www.paulreverems.com for more information on how to submit your questions.

Last but not least, Revere has welcomed a new member to our team. Ms. Christian Rivas is our School Climate Advocate. Part of her position is to help support positive school culture and climate through active listening skills, conflict resolution techniques, mindfulness, and other programs that support social-emotional learning. Her first student event will be a meditation activity during lunch. She is also planning multicultural activities to highlight and celebrate the incredible diversity on campus.

Thank you for your time and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Take care.

November 17, 2023

As we embark upon the holiday season, I would like to give thanks to the students, staff, parents/guardians, and community members who make Paul Revere Middle School a wonderful place to learn. Our students have opportunities throughout the school year to participate in some exciting activities thanks to our staff, parents/guardians, and PRIDE. This week our sixth graders participated in Spirit Series, a program that integrates History and drama culminating in a live performance for peers and parents. In addition, our students had the opportunity to meet and hold conversations with two guest speakers; Michael Swanson (Emmy Award Winner) and Cynthia Yuan Cheng (Illustrator/Cartoonist).

Once we return from our Thanksgiving break, we will start off the week with our Magnet UCLA field trip as well as other activities. Our 6th Grade Magnet students have been hard at work building “earthquake safe structures” in collaboration with UCLA’s Engineering Department. Monday, November 27th, they will get the opportunity to present these structures to professional and student engineers.

LAUSD is offering a Winter Academy from December 18-20th to provide enrichment and instructional opportunities to students. For more information, please visit https://www.lausd.org/winteracademy.

As we continue to offer great learning opportunities, we also want to ensure that all students are safe and respected on campus. With the unrest in the Middle East, we have observed a rise in inappropriate language among students on campus. To derail these behaviors, administrators and counselors have provided school wide assemblies to review and discuss Revere school expectations of treating everyone with respect, as well as the consequences of not adhering to the rules. Parents of the students involved are contacted and provided with information and resources as it relates to the situation at hand. I understand the apprehension some families may have; therefore, I am offering a Town Hall for parents to express their concerns, in an organized and respectful manner. This event will occur in our school auditorium prior to winter break. Our partnership is crucial to the success of campus safety and student learning. I hope you will join us.

Enjoy the week off, spending quality time with family and friends. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,
Dr. Anthony, Principal

October 13, 2023

Dear Revere Families,

Our hearts are with our students, families, and staff impacted by the events in Israel and Gaza. At Revere MS we are working diligently to ensure our students and staff model respect and tolerance for all cultures. I ask that all families have a discussion with your student about being respectful to those who may be different from ourselves. Parents and caregivers, we understand your concerns and we appreciate your willingness to communicate with us. In the past weeks, LAUSD and Revere have increased school monitoring with local law enforcement agencies and partners, increased supervision, and encouraged staff and students that if they “see something, say something”. There have been instances where our middle school students may not have made good choices with their words or actions. Please know that this does not necessarily constitute hate, but simply kids not understanding the impact of their actions. In situations such as these, our counselors, mental health experts and administrators work with the student and their families to ensure such behaviors do not occur again. We understand that is an emotional time and I want you to know that we always have the safety of all students and staff as a priority.

There are a few reminders for upcoming activities for next week. Our BSU club will host a donut sale on Tuesday during lunch near Town Hall. LAUSD, Division of Special Education, is offering a parent workshop on Dyslexia on Wednesday, October 18th from 9-10am via Zoom at https://lausd.zoom.us/j/83738339520. Finally, on Thursday, October 19th, we will have our Great Shake drill during period 3. Remember parents, our campus will close for the drill and re-open once the drill is complete.

Thank you for your time. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the administration with any concerns or questions.

October 6, 2023

I would like to introduce Ms. Elana Mabashov as our new Assistant Principal at Paul Revere. Ms. Mabashov was our Magnet Coordinator for nearly eight years. She comes to us with over twenty years of experience in education. She will now be over our Special Education program, 504’s, and Health and Safety. We welcome her to her new role with open arms and l know she will be a great addition to our administrative team.

October festivities are happening at Revere, so let’s talk about some of the fun stuff that’s planned! During lunch, students have the opportunity to make bracelets for our Wellness Wednesday activity and there is a Latin Paint Party to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month on Friday. In addition to our lunch time activities, Ms. Gualano, our amazing librarian, is organizing multiple field trips this school year. Some of the field trips will include visiting local college campuses, museums, theaters and more! Our 6th and 7th graders will head up to Pali Camp next week. Nearly 300 kiddos will get to have an amazing experience in the outdoors with science experiments, physical activities, and sports. College Day is every Monday! So all students and staff are encouraged to show up in their college attire to school. At Revere we want to get students excited about college! Finally, we have Farm Day this Saturday. Come out and join the fun from 9am-12pm. Future dates for this activity can be found on our school calendar.

I know I sound like a broken record; however, 10 week progress report grades are near. Please check your Schoology account to monitor your student’s progress. Keep on-going communication with your child’s teacher(s) throughout the year. Education is a partnership and we want parents to engage with the school community to ensure positive learning outcomes for their student(s).

As a reminder, safety is a priority on campus. Parents, the West Driveway is one-way. Please enter from Allenford and exit onto Sunset. In addition, encourage students to use the crosswalk when crossing the street. It takes more time, but it could potentially save a life.

September 30, 2023

In addition to all of the fun activities above, the month of October will also host Red Ribbon Week from October 24-October 27. Finally, on Halloween, there will be a Carnival with more fun and treats! Additional information regarding these activities can be found on the school’s website.

The Great Shake Out will be held Thursday, October 19th, 2023. This is an opportunity for staff, students, and families to practice what to do if a large earthquake happens. I encourage families to take the time to inventory your home to ensure your home is ready for a major earthquake. Remember, we can never be too safe. Information for parents on what to expect during an emergency can be found HERE.

Finally, ten week grades are approaching. Please check in with your students regularly to stay on top of any missing assignments or assessments. Please contact teachers if you have any questions concerning student work or grades. If your Schoology account does not work, please reach out to our counseling office for support. LAUSD offers free tutoring. Please visit the website at https://www.lausd.org/Page/18683 for more information on how to access the free tutoring services.

I wish everyone a restful and peaceful weekend. Parents and caregivers, please do not forget to take care of yourself. Do something, even if it's very small, that brings you joy.

Respectfully,

Dr. Anthony, Principal

September 23, 2023

 Hello Revere Families,

Spirit Week was amazing! Students and staff participated with great enthusiasm. We saw students dressing up in 80’s fashion, Barbie pink, and sports gear. What a great way to bring in the three-day weekend.
Next week, we will have several activities. Our wonderful counseling department will hold grade level assemblies during homeroom. These assemblies will review various topics, including, academic supports, social emotional supports, school-wide expectations, student behavioral expectations, culmination requirements and school activities. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions on any of the listed topics.

The ten week grading period will be here in the “blink of an eye”. So let’s stay on top of our students' academic progress. Families, please make sure that you are checking in with your students about missing assignments. We encourage you to reach out to the teachers and set up a time to ask questions you may have about class work and homework. Revere offers our Homework Help Club during lunch and after school. LAUSD also offers free tutoring for all students.

As always, thank you for your support in making Paul Revere Charter Middle School a wonderful place for students to grow and learn. Also as a friendly reminder, there is no school on Monday, September 25th. I wish everyone a joyful and safe weekend .

With gratitude,

Dr. Anthony, Principal

In line with safe practices, Revere will hold our next emergency drill next on Wednesday, September 20th during Period 6.

September 9, 2023

Hello Amazing Revere Families!

As usual, we had a blast at school! Many of our lunchtime clubs began this week. We also had several activities to educate students and staff on Suicide Prevention and Awareness. For example, today students and staff were able to meet and pet Trixie, LAUSD’s facility dog, used to provide moments of happiness. The fabulous Ms. Riley, our school’s PSW, also provided some Wellness Wednesday activities to our homeroom teachers. We want students and families to know Revere cares about their social emotional well being. Thank you, to everyone who came to Coffee with the Principal. I plan to hold a meeting on the first Thursday of every month. Each month we will talk about topics related to our Every School Safe campaign in addition to other school events.

This Saturday, September 8th is Farm Work Day! Our agriculture teacher, Ms. Robertson, will provide direction on how to care for the animals and their upkeep. If you love animals and want to participate, the project will begin at 9am.

Let’s talk about academics! Homework Help Club begins September 11th (Yay!!!) Students can get support from teachers after school on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm and during lunchtime. More information is found on our school website. In addition, LAUSD offers free tutoring. Please visit https://www.tutor.com/LAUSD on how to get started. This program is available 24/7 for homework help, test prep, and writing review. We are continuing to take our iReady diagnostic assessments. These assessments replace the STAR assessment and are provided during ELA and Math. This is an assessment the LAUSD requires to provide teachers information on student’s strengths and needs. Once the assessment is completed, teachers will also be able to provide target assignments during class to support learning throughout the school year. Please see the iReady Family Guide for information.

Now for the fun stuff! September 15th is Make Up Picture Day! Wooohoo!! If your child did not take a school photo, please make sure they are at school and on time that day. Packages and pricing are located on our website. School tours will begin, September 14th. If you or anyone you know is interested in seeing Revere, please attend this event from 9am-11am. You are also able to sign up here.

Have a wonderful weekend, and make sure to take time to do something YOU enjoy!

Wow! What a packed week of activities we had last week. I want to thank everyone for a successful Revere Family Breakfast and Back to School Night! Parents were able to meet with teachers and have a look inside the classroom, learn about their student’s curriculum, and explore our campus. In addition, thanks to those of you who participated in our Book Fair. Many teachers will get their “wish list” granted because of your generosity.

In the upcoming week, we have multiple activities planned. Our students will participate in the District wide IReady testing. This has replaced the STAR assessments provided in previous years. iReady is a diagnostic test to provide teachers with information on where students are. It is used as a tool to plan instruction. Additionally, our lunch clubs will be up and running next week for students. On Thursday, I will host a Coffee with the Principal via Zoom. On our agenda will be information from LAUSD, “Every School Safe” initiative. Also September is suicide prevention month and our PSW will host Wellness Wednesday presentations during homeroom on basic coping skills and how to ask for help. Then on Friday, our Ms. Riley will have Paws and Relax with Trixie, LAUSD’s facility dog to provide students with joyful experiences in small moments.

I hope everyone is having a great Labor Day weekend. Please take time to do something you enjoy, even if that means doing nothing. Self care is important for everyone. I look forward to seeing our students back in school on Tuesday.

Sincerely,
Dr. Anthony, Principal

 Hello Families,

Students and staff have accomplished so much this past week! There were grade level assemblies with our amazing counseling team, and we began the book fair in our fabulous, newly remodeled library. We have many upcoming activities as we embark upon another week of school.. First, there is a “Revere Family Welcome Breakfast” on Wednesday, August 30th from 8-10:30am in the Auditorium Garden. This breakfast will be hosted by PRIDE for our parents. Come out and mingle with administrators and board members, while you enjoy some coffee and treats!

Back to School Night will be Thursday, August 31st . This is when parents will have the opportunity to learn about their children’s classes, the curriculum, and expectations. Please download the schedule from our website for exact times based on your child’s grade level. While you are here for Back to School Night, please stop by the Library to visit the Book Fair. There are many titles to choose from for both parents and students. You will also be able to meet our Librarian, Ms. Gualano, who is a wonderful resource for our students and school.

As we journey through the school year, I would like students to get involved in activities on campus. In doing so, students can build new friendships, learn exciting information, and just have fun! One way to do this is to join a lunch club! Currently we have over 20 different lunch clubs which are sponsored by our teachers and staff. Encourage your children to participate in one or more clubs. (Check our website for a list of available clubs.) The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, August 30th, so don’t miss out!

Also, don’t forget that school will be closed on Friday, September 1st and Monday, September 4th, in observance of Labor Day.

Most importantly, safety is a priority at Revere. I want to remind everyone to please use the crosswalk at all times. It is imperative that students and parents do not jay-walk across Allenford. I ask that you exercise patience during dismissal. Lastly, please be respectful of our neighbors by not blocking their driveways.

 Hello Revere Families,

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you for all of your effort and hard work in getting your children to Revere everyday. It was heartwarming to see so many happy faces, picture taking, hugs, and well wishes. What a wonderful first week we had in welcoming new families, new teachers, new classes, and new friends! Revere students and staff have already accomplished so much; learning how to navigate the campus, opening lockers, and our first evacuation drill! In addition, teachers are continually working towards building positive relationships with their students while communicating classroom routines and expectations. School-wide expectations and rules were further reviewed during class assemblies. Next week, our counselors will conduct grade level assemblies to review various topics, including work habits, study skills, and staying on top of homework. Let’s keep this momentum going!

Enjoy the weekend and make time to rest and relax for the upcoming week.

Sincerely,
Dr. Anthony, Principal
