What to expect for the remainder of the year and High School.

hey good evening everybody it's about a year head councillor Paul Revere Middle School spring of I know some of you right now we're in the car kind of listening and I'm actually in my car as well on my way home on my commute but here to kind of just I want to walk in everybody and we are going to go ahead and move forward happy 2023 and this is priceless go right to an ex lie this is why I didn't even do some stuff on this what kind of work until you are technical difficulties I want to see talk that'll work thanks one coming today be a great spring calendar we're going to come over or even a combination of garments were going to go on to that what to expect in high school from our counseling office and then we're going to give the tonight to Palisades kind of go over some some of the things registration than one. So. Do April calendar of events parents and students here we go she'll see the main things that are happening in February March April May and June and you'll see a bulk of it is going to be in me and you really put out a more detailed calendar of events and that'll actually go out later this week I'm with more specific details on all of them I'll be evil notice on the right hand side at 4 June 2022 and yellow there's an eighth grade celebration picnic so awesome going to take that and then on the 9th of June at 2 p.m. ceremony is always at Palisades High School in so they'll be more specific details to that we are going to slide but you'll see what you'll get more details in the calendar events that we will be posting to get the Revere website and to Schoology next line and again that'll be posted this week this is my son hi hi everyone so just to review a few items that we review with our students in homeroom assembly throughout the I'm especially throughout 8th grade 8th grade culmination a requirement this is located in the student planner also on page I believe 9 or 10 is after child to open up that Dusty student planner which sometimes gets it does become a bit dusty but it is on page 9 and 10 to 15 credits in 8th grade they also need to have Ben 10 total tardies for the entire school year both fall and spring semester combined in the 18th week of the spring semester which is the current semester of 8th grade no more than to use and work habits please keep in mind that that's the 18 that is at the end of the semester we are not counting the eu's on for the five-week 10 week 15 progress report those are progress report that was just notify you of progress throughout the year the one smart at the 18th week of the spring semester no more than two years and work have it also at the 18th week of the spring semester no more than to use and cooperation I know outstanding by Asians and students must maintain a proper behavior and have no Behavior referrals with these dudn't Services office I will move right along how sweet how many and how do they get that and how much is each class or do students learn five credit for every class they passed with a D or better and so these are the cops. One through six home runs does not count grades are a academic rate has not issued for homeroom academic grades are only issued for our class. One through six which is our core subjects and elected at the once more. 1 through 6 in the fall or worth 5 credits each which makes Thirty credits possible to be earned in the fall semester and periods 1 through 6 in the spring are worth 5 credits each which is also 30 credits possible to earn minimum required is 50 credits I need myself so there is there are students who do not meet the requirements do you want to cover which process is for those folks earned it so that you do not meet the requirements to purchase Penny combination combination set a repeal address to the principal Seth at 8:30 a.m. so essentially before the end of that letter public accounting office and then on the 6th and appeals committee will meet with eels committee is made up of at least one T-Shirt One counselor one carat of one administrator the D and they will review the appeals letters and they will make a decision you there approving me PLS a combination of students parents are notified on the following day on Wednesday June 7th and one last thing students are not we are not repeat a grade if they do not pass the movie Ride Along Haitian Ceremony this is scheduled and you are all invited 2023 2 p.m. at Palisades Charter High School we have a rehearsal a walk through with our student on June 8th the day before the coronation ceremony tickets are not required so that you can invite everyone you want everyone you want to invite they are in I did and they are more than welcome to join and I'm more information will be posted on that calendar of events and also on our website and schoology and probably some information will go out with mr. iannucci's dial on Sundays as we approach the special day then after culmination of your students are all your children are all off to high school and the web to becton High School something that you all are very familiar or not a through G requirements and requirements apply to a high school diploma also advice to exceptions to Higher Education Institute and so if you take a look on the right of the screen the a through G requirements are there and each of those categories are listed as for subject you're familiar with in our children are filled and also some extra classes in the Visual and Performing Arts elective language language class element with our students are not expected to take another but I will have to take in high school and so a little bit beyond the academic requirements it'll be his Workshop Club Athletics and GPA requirement we can delve into that a little more throughout the year with our kids and home run with them bleed and will share some information with you and certainly it'll be something that you'll become more familiar with or you're already familiar with do you already have kids who have gone through high school and next time we had a new Slidell so cuz I have I have a child who's a senior or daughter to see your house his high school and learning about starting to learn about these things as you start the house of felt like Palisades High School did a very good job look advertising and communicating these things if you see requirements discussing with talking to the kids about advanced placement classes and honors classes and how some of the same classes can I create a grade grade point average boost Palisades High School job finding College workshops for students in family so whenever you see that kind of information posted to any High School and I really want to encourage you to start looking at that as a freshman high schools all have clubs and there are athletic requirements in terms of three point average we want to make sure that whatever High School you lay on its you you stay on top of of all these things and make sure your kind of starting to learn about it so that when you do start high school start high school you have a little bit so you can start asking more in-depth questions may be more specific to your student I'm so awesome couple lasting too in high school at least from what we've seen from the Middle School side on the from the academic he's studying when you get the high school and we will be really wanting her as soon as now start using okay are forming study groups and really start kicking in on your note taking getting yourself organized and start planning for college in the night. Like I said the truck stops when you do travel somewhere is it a college you may not want to attend that calls but just kind of stepping onto the campus starts to give you the feeling that you're going to college College St that experience exposure and some other things expected high school socially your friend may change get involved in clubs at Lenox ASP high schools have a ton of great opportunities for all students Palisades has a lot of great of activities clubs Lee crews are there so many ways I can get involved and those things will all actually be helpful call Jeff in Lassie can start volunteering Warren High School at section that they do and a lot of kids start working so this point I want to turn the the evening over to Palisades Charter High School they've got quite a number of folks who they brought in tonight to share information with you again we are recording this week I've been receiving some texts I've been having a hard time getting in to the webinar we are recording this week poster to post is somehow in the next few days that people have the opportunity to dr. Chris Lee Amy and Amy from Palisades High School to get us going here good evening everyone I'm trying to do my camera but it's not allowing but no worries my name is mrs. onion do I am 7 missions in attendance at Palisades Charter High School I have a couple of awesome people here with me tonight from poly who will be share some information with you in regards to many different I'm going to start the evening off you can go ahead and go to the slide we're going to start the evening off discussing our Lottery and olr which stands for our online registration process next line all right so first and foremost I want to share with you all that are Lottery system is ran through a third party which is Lottery and it does three main things for us it managers are application it runs a lottery for us as well as maintain the weight the reason why it's important for me to share this information I'm with you all is that at times or oftentimes we get emails or phone calls I'm asking if there's any way that we can we add it as far as faculty or staff members are able to help recent mad or anything of that nature as far as application but concerned and we don't have the power to actually do that thing do those things I'm lotteries what they are known for its being transparent and fair so when it comes to a lottery process families have the opportunity to create account and to submit that application and from there when we won the lottery Lottery Stakes over and complete those processes for us make slime alright so let's talk about the lottery process first and foremost All Families including families from Paul Revere must apply to pchs by Tuesday February 28th be a lottery I want to stress it here iterate this that all families if you are, dating from Paul Revere you must apply if you fail to apply and you and you missed the deadline I'm I'm letting you know right now that there's no way that I can any paperwork mr. shibata cannot submit any paperwork we don't have that car Charter the ability to submit that information for you so it is very imperative that if you have not if it's Palisades is your Top Choice to go ahead and apply and make sure that once you apply that you saved all that information and remembering especially the email address that you use our families will be notified by email through lottery so again when you were creating that be sure to save all the information as far as the email addresses that you're using I'm making sure that you're checking your junk email just so that you can at least favorite that email ad from Lottery you'll notice that the email will come from lotteries and not Poly High so once you have that information saving here are some important dates when it comes to the oil are processed on March 3rd you'll get an email notification that is sent to all family about a seed offering again that's going to come from lottery so we are will be running the lottery that first week of March instructions on how to confirm your acceptance will be in the email everything that pertains to the slaughter process will be written in the email we we have been using lotteries for the past I'm going to stay for five years so everything that we are all we have gone through if there's any pieces of information that we were running that we learned throughout the years when he's included in this email to make the process easier once you and in you have to confirm your seat I'll buy the 17 so you will have until March 17th to confirm or deny your seat once you confirm your seat your upload all the required documents for overlord by March 31st so then just to reiterate because we're going through this Lottery the lotteries when it says March 17th if we do not get information of you confirming or denying your seat it will automatically go to the next person who was placed on the waitlist so again if it's March 18th and it's email to myself for a call this is oh my goodness I missed the date there's nothing that I can do so it is very very important that you play station stay in your phone on the counter somewhere so that I remember to and ensure that you get these things next slide all right so again you'll receive a second email with the online registration information in the link to begin that registration process so once you confirm your seat you'll then get an email from for the online registration peace on this is when you'll start that registration for the 2324 school year there you'll have an additional 14 days to upload the documents so once you have the link some of the things that be uploading princess ensure a student's birth certificate you'll need to have their their health their health immunization card you'll have to prove a residence and things of that nature and all this information is also found on our website please next Lottery here's some questions that we generally get what year how many openings will we will be available for this upcoming school year and these are just estimates because each year it is very So based on previous experience we have will have about 750 openings in the 9th grade 40 in the 10th grade 30 + 11 + 30 + 12 great again this is just estimates and year by year that changes how I know if my students accepted to pchs you'll be notified Again by email from Lottery on daybell keep updating you on that information check your inbox including clutter or your junk the first week of March I'm you can also log into your parent account on lotteries to check the status of your application who gets admitted another was a question about if Paul Revere is first come first serve. I don't remember the question cuz no longer they're based on our Charter and a posse adopt go to Palisades Charter High School Board of Trustees and missions is granted to students in the following preference order so there you'll see the seven different preference orders and you'll notice and white that culminated, Paul Revere is number for student desk made it from Paul Revere they would be considered forth on our admissions on a preference order giving preference to Residents who are within the the the former tenant area enrolled siblings staff family members and you will select all that apply to your student so stay Princeton you do live within the the Palisades in this is your home campus you won't click resident as well it's culminating student if you have a sibling that attends Powell You equipped enroll sibling and then you'll click culminating student from Paul Revere so you will select all that apply to your student and again just just to share call Charlie any false information may result in the application being removed text slide if you have a moment you can take a snapshot of this would be important dates to remember again you'll be the no. I buy email from lottery Friday March 3rd is the date that we have for us to actually run a lottery Friday March 17th is your deadline for seeking confirmation and then on the 31st of all my registration will be due you must complete all of this information by 5 p.m. on each respective Jay so please be sure that again you put this in your calendar and his phone they get buzzed do whatever it is that you need to make sure that this is taken care of by okay I'm going to pass this on to our director of student services Tammy no not yet I'm going to pass it off to our pchs ambassador's and then you'll hear from housing department as well as again from from Miss Wilson who is in our student Support Services next line and Dylan Europe going to be in I'm currently the president for policy program on Taylor's can we talk about the different opportunities we have here at Pali high and what we really pride ourselves in a poly first off is that we have a college showing environment so coming into Power you will be having 100 minute. Which kind of allows you to be a simulator into the college schedule I personally took a few college courses over the summer and the courses were two to three hours long so definitely having these 100-minute courses allow me to have some salmon in order to take on those two to three crosses we also have a block schedule which is this three periods a day which is similar to a college schedule where you only have two or three classes a day at most over a hundred different Club so we have interest-based and service Bass Club alarm for students involved in sales and clubs at rates right there in find a niche community that they resonate with there's a club for almost everybody's interest and if there isn't your more than free to start your own the process is really easy and you can start one based on if it's something that will help the community or might just be an interest that you have on your own we also have 25 / 25 different sport teams on that means that we have a varsity junior varsity and freshman sophomore team for some team we also have a woman's and a men's team and we do have a lot of sports teams that we pride ourselves in for really well on both a district and Regional level I recently just want our water polo Regional level a district-level game so that's pretty impressive I was of a commitment to technology so I probably we are very technology-based unfortunately not every single student has received a Chromebook the majority students to bring their own devices a lot of time students will be doing most of the work on a device I personally only do most of my homework on a computer so it is pretty nice to just carry one item around for the whole time play self having a commitment to technology is pretty convenient for both students and teachers not going to pass it on to kean's kind of explain what Kylie High has to offer. Everybody my name is Kiana Democrat senior and it first offer just going to kind of talk about cheering support So after Polly and I really really do mean this for any class at the grey that she want you will get you have all the opportunities and then you know you'll have access to really work for that great so there's like so things in my mind that I'm thinking about like academic support that I might want to see forgot one so please someone let me know if I forget but first one is our study center so or something so we just got these super cool like spinny chairs and then we kind of Ramada and it is open in the morning during nutrition during lunch and after school until 6 or 5 sorry 55 students are also available to cut a center drinks class to get their teachers approval and within the study Centre students can receive a one-on-one tutoring from their peers so let's say for example if I am a junior and AP calc I can go and get a scooter for AP calc from just taking that class so I just left need someone to senior who took a p cossar Junior here I will be able to get that help and not only is that so beneficial but you also really get to get specific help from someone who just recently took the same exact another great thing in related to Matt is our amazing math lab so we have around for a professional that you can go to after school and you can work one-on-one about homework and also it was really great about our math lab is that these not pair of paraprofessionals are paired with teachers for algebra geometry and algebra two and so let's see example if I'm paired with Miss heinbach and I am in Algebra 2 I can go after school to get help with my homework all that great stuff that I can specifically go to Miss Hannah back and be like hey I just want to prepare for this test because the knocker paraprofessionals not least they work one of my students but they also work when I'm out with the teacher so they can really help with specific stuff that approaches tests and stuff and stuff like that okay we have the center we have the math lab and I also have the library so of course I can many schools we have a great great Library I'm it's a really great quiet space once again similar to the study center is open for school during nutrition during lunch and after school as well let's say for example peppermint meeting academic help like a lot of students are you participate also in a black circular so these spaces are also super great spaces for students to kind of go spend some time call Marquis for Baxter Cricket a start and our last one is for academic support is office hours so office hours kind of range from anytime during the day it depends on what the teacher said that so it could be your nutrition it can be drained it could be after school and that's a spare time for students to go on their own time and then got one with a with her teacher and do some clarification on stop that one last thing you just came to my mind is Polly. So every single Wednesday we super super cool system here ipoly where units are able to where we kind of work around your schedule and in the middle of the day we had like a 30 minute. Where students can pick a class if they want to go to so let's say for example if I was absent last Monday and I missed a test instead of kind of being a hassle having to take a test during lunch or after school I can you know through Infinite Campus sign up for so-and-so teacher and take my test there and also just getting kind of get that additional help moving on very clear. Everything I've heard for a tutoring scrap Halle Halle offers a wide variety of AP courses so we have around 2380 courses ranging from a PR AP photo AP AP Physics super super great race as each year progresses we are slowly making that number larger I'm so as of last year as of this year we started you we added a key macro AP psych and freshman also just to clarify freshmen are not a how to take a pee is there no freshmen are able to take my freshman year but they are able to take their AP classes sophomore junior senior year and they'll work with a composite figure out what's the best bet and then ask for about a week Barberton for Visual and Performing Arts super great about Holly is we don't just do two main stage shows we kind of do four so a first semester we have an amazing fall Musical and then we have our faults and I'm second semester we have our spring musical at that we have our Advanced drama show and within each one of these shows are able to participate from a great show they can still find a way there and have a great time additionally we also have half an hour which is kind of poly stage on SNL to super super cool thing that probably has to offer that assumes love participating in incidents also love being a part of the audience as well and ask for about the classes we have it drama Bhai play production and we have improv and then we also have the deed romopock refreshment and then ask for safe and secure campus is the super super save campus we take pride in our campus I'm not only very open and a very safe so we have a super great Beyond open campus with that safety so we have a lot of security guards on campus that want the best for our students and stuff like that so it is guaranteed I also know. Polly are safe and yeah I hope that Rasta. Okay so I'm Catherine I am a seaman  and a senior to go to the next line Holly offers campus tours led by Ambassador students like myself here or coming toward 8 registration for all guess is required and you can register by going to palihigh.org then cooking enrollment at missions in all the dates and registration link should be there or you can scan the QR code that looks like that you are kind of. They're all tour start at 8:45 and lasts around 90 minutes one part there will be a presentation by Administration the next will be the actual campus tour I want to emphasize that space is limited and there is no wait list so if you know that a date works for you register as soon as possible because torsella quickly I think the first two tour dates are already filled up so just and get on that as soon as possible it's really quickly at the Catherine to this piece right here right now in the first two towards may be full by February we just received these February date so you will see them on our website over the link is not linked for you to pick up ticket so hopefully by tomorrow afternoon you'll be able to go online and 2 to sign up for one of those poor as she mentions there's no waiting list so if it is full you'll just have to wait until the next availability and towards the end of March is when we will open our arms towards the end of February will open up date for March and so-and-so text my please all right in here will have Miss Wilson the director of student support share some information with you about our special education program good evening everyone was the directions to and support services I oversee the 504 program and mental health programs so as you are at Pally and there's other additional support that you may need to be on all the wonderful things that I've been Wayne tonight you may want to access or our support within the student Support Services office, if you check out website you can see more information about those supports and services one of which is a 504 program in our mental health program tonight was going to speak briefly about our special education program the Continuum of services at Pally as it relates to courses a wheel line obviously with your but you know where courses that are offered at Palisades Charter High School with support that are outlined with an i e p so when you hear special education and I EP their synonymous they're one in the same so we have our general education classrooms and inclusion opportunity on which means support within the General Ed classroom we have rstp and essential classrooms those are outside the general that setting and then we have an alternative curriculum for students who are looking to that may be pursuing a completion certificate based off of their present levels are course offerings again aligned with all the core courses we do have what we call a city seminar course which assisted with their executive functioning organizing cetera and we also want to speak briefly about our transition Services some of our students are trying to figure out exactly what they want to do after high school I'm so stupid I peed special education program they have an opportunity to not only championships but they also have an opportunity to look at specific location of gold and programs to support them as they are transitioning on work find high school and we do provide related Services based off the individual IEP and those services are speech ate physical therapy and occupational therapy and the last thing I'll say is eligibility if you are eligible for special education services on feel free to reach out to her office before enrollment and make sure during the enrollment process on once you are I think it's the March 31st date make sure you upload any information related to your IEP tickle your IP would be great and those are all the points that I have at this time but we just want you to be aware we're hoping that we can attend some of the students that are transitioning over during the spring semester but if not please access information on the website and feel free to reach out to our department thank you Miss Wilson next line please and I will have a doctor Chrisley from the counseling services it looks like the cameras are working so this is good everyone dr.lee here so we're going to go through once your stuff do Poly High when you get that okay you turned in all your olr form you've been accepted everything good so we're going to talk about a little about our are class request process so what do you two definitely complete your online registration you'll get a link saying that you can request your classes is very very very important you do this right away so we're going to kind of tell you how to go about choosing the classes on what's a very important is once you once you do complete the online registration process after you accepted to choose the classes is going to be sent to the parent Guardian email that you provided an infinite campus this is very very very very important to please make sure that you use an email that check regularly and maybe go to spam or the Clutter but please make sure that you are using an email that you use regularly so I'm going to turn this over to our County. share Miss shown everyone so when you get that email going to say welcome to Palisades is there's going to be a link to pick out your classes that's in there but before you do it you can look at our course cat I'm going to go over what classes you're going to take 9th grade students are going to select their pods and I'll go over that the science choice and their language or elected preferences every 9th graders going to be placed in P even if Toronto senior planning on a sports team we all have to do PE and then if you have a chance to 12th grade soon that's coming in from outside of poly is no deciding to come now they'll also be a link for them next line so this is a sample 9th grade schedule all 9th graders are in the same English class as we have all night better than regular English they're all in a pod class and Padre like small learning communities that we established our campus we have 700 9th graders it's big for them so we have them arranged themselves kind of by interest just for ninth grade so they can be in a smaller group with friends and other people that they might know and that's the Pod if I teachers work together to Provide support for students who needed and the English teacher in the potty chair they're all in a little group don't freak out about pod traces though because everyone makes a big deal about it it really applies to one it's just a way of making a smaller group for but after ninth grade after the 1 class they're not going to be in a pod anymore so it's not the end of the world if they don't get their first choice most likely they'll get one of their top choices math is going to be placed on the 8th grade for sand on state test do we look at that so you can take a math class you're not going to be able to take anything over the summer to get ahead and you don't really need to get ahead but like everyone's going to be okay they'll be opportunities if you want to see that but math is based on 8th grade math I'm not on anything you taking this summer science students will take bio or they can take a more conceptual physics if they have the right math class for those classes again all 9th graders are in PE regardless of athletic and it whether they're going to be on the you're not and then ninth-graders will be in World Language if they qualify based on their English grade they need to have an A or B to be in Spanish French or Italian they can have the other grades what matters Spanish for native speakers cuz we have a program that's going to be supportive in there and if they don't call so they can select an elective and that will be an offer do be an opportunity on our Lake next slide I want to mention it is both Michonne and myself are a lie alone mission. make a bit about our r-pod it's kind of and the ambassador's is well kind of help in the transition from middle school to high school where the dolphin and dolphin travel in so here are proposed pot options they do chain pretty regularly to kind of meet the needs of what the kids want and a lot of these courses are based upon what what's some of the kids interests are I'm looking to tie these pods off also to our Career Tech education Pathways and I'll go into that in a bit a bit more but once you get the acceptance and you start using your glasses you look you'll get the list of PODS that we have as well as checking out our course catalog for pod description askew and Dylan heck did we have a ton of courses at Poly so it would be really helpful to check out our course catalog it's on our website and I just really want to stress there's no one right path for a we have 3,000 kiddos and it's kind of like a small college and just like a college everyone takes what path works best for them so it's really important to find out what interest are and what their purpose feels like so check out our course catalog we have a lot of options by weight 13 science Court I mean what when I was at Valley there weren't that many that's really cool to see that our next flight something that we're really a gearing up for is Career Tech education at Poly and this is just another kind of feather in our student caps GTA V a student for college as well as per opportunities once they graduate college or once they graduate high school here our current Pathways as you can see and I'm not only when they take the ACT horses do they get like information in these career Pathways when they can meet with people that are currently in these jobs as well as develop skills that will help them in the in the crip hats and it's a way to help student kind of discover the purpose as well which is really helpful and is mr. shibata has been saying quite a bit it's a way to give kids Edge in not only in the career field but also in the college process as well but also when they're more interested in their education they're going to be more successful so definitely look into that and like I said the Pod are going to be tied to Career Pathways so we're giving all kids that come in kind of an entry to that next likely so it's some frequently asked questions what unconditional you handle these these two frequently asked questions all right so when will I meet with a lot of people look at them graduated or you know in prep classes so you'll be assigned your counselors one school begins we sometimes change the alphabetical breakdown and so you know you'll find out who your counselor is when you start school and you get your schedule it's usually orientation right before but that's kind of when your counsel be assigned to you when you communicate with your students every semester at least we have open door policy so they they can come in anytime if they have questions but we do make a point to check in and communicate every semester about the next semester classes and goals and things like that and then during the first week of school student Kinsman schedule changing so we're going to put a schedule together based on your request and choices and then if you have a change make you can always do that at the beginning of the of the schedule let me know something really really important Michonne the request to to change the court will be based not on I did I want to try something else want to try this on it is based upon level so let's say your kiddo signed up for honors biology and they're like I'm not quite ready for that yet I want to take College Prep biology it will be for a change of schedule request so just bear that in mind alright so do a lot of people ask if they're soon going to be ready for college and we do have 95% of our species supplying and attending college has all around the country and world really we give them the opportunity to meet the a through G requirements which are 8 to 8:30 is what they used to put out or requirements for a minimum of Camaros Social Studies English math science language visual performing art and elective and if you meet these two requirements you'll meet most colleges around the world so most of our students are qualified that's not a problem we make sure to track and get them on I keep them on track for that we have a lot of AP options and we'll go over those with you along the way 10 through 12th graders can take AP classes there's none available for 9th grade what college is no. So it's not like you're going to be an adjuster plus the AP in 9th grade you don't get the extra point anyway so don't worry about if he's yet will look in 9th grade will place you all and then see who is recommended for that some of these AP classes let's see what else we have we have a lot of honors classes a lot of our classes are students have the opportunity to get honors Credit in the class if they do a little extra work and then we'll make sure you taking all the classes to graduate and get the credit for graduation and meet all those there's there's a couple passage Beyond a through G that earn for college like PE technical computer classes that we require but colleges don't need to see so but councillors make sure you're taking all those classes right there are graduation requirements as well as a through G College requirements a lot of overlap but they're two different products thank you. Please don't add one more thing we do require 10 hours of community service for every years your students are there at Pally if you're there for 4 years you'll you'll do 40 hours students can do community service this summer I recommend not getting them all done at once though cuz it looks like you're meeting requirement call just really want to see your community contributing to the community that you're apart of so they know you May contribute to their so the more you contribute on a regular basis not just check some boxes that that are so if they want to do community service this Summer that would be great but not don't don't try to knock out all four days like try to do a little bit along the way soda called you see that and also they have to be formally a student at Polly's do we start tracking hours once I become a student at the house next light please how do you find out about court steams as Miss Johnson said all 9th grade students are enrolled in PE class but they can also try out for 14 we have a ton of sports teams really successful which is kind of cool about Polly you can check our website and there won't be enough for the zoo this evening but there will be one when we have our prospective parent night so check that one out offer summer classes any new incoming student can only take help me repeat that and Inu incoming 9th grade student can only take out at the only class that we we will take but you must complete the required approval form and that's on our website the ones you've been accepted Sally and you have some interest in perhaps taking help the summer before that's fine and for any incoming 10th through 12th grade students your brothers or sisters or siblings the Pryor High School must put that on their own Prince ripped all right please what are some of our alternative programs at Polly we do have a really successful Virtual Academy program which you should will have more information on our prospective parent night what it is is it independent study program which a lot of it is through virtual curriculum we find out that some students learn better that way so we do have a Virtual Academy program I mentioned the Career Tech Ed classes earlier we have a really cool oportun that 9th graders will be able to take we have dual enrollment with West LA City college students can take a class through West LA City College there a synchronous online only do they get Pala credit they get college credit and there is free so this is something really really important to take advantage of I'm going to plant that seed right now so starting in 9th grade you can start earning college credit that also count for Pally so and it needs a lot of we have like a film class on Meet The Vision Performing Arts requirement we have some computer classes which are good to help get certification we have sign language which can meet the language requirement for for a through G for you seize and community health aide to really take advantage in the 9th grade to take advantage of our Doolin there's a process to which you can sign up for which the College Center will help help you with but please I want to play at that theater earlier going to earn college credit poly breaded breed its enriching and it looks good for college and a career so you can do that starting in 9th grade we also have Polly Academy which is usually for students at Credit Recovery that I have fallen behind a bit a credit recovery program where it allows students to make up a deficient credit so that that we do have that program if you have any other questions check out our course catalog and you can always email counseling info a polyhigh.org thank you Chris thank you so much I'm there's a couple of questions that were in the chat and so I want to answer them really quickly I know that some of some of them have been answered but the ones that I wanted to just share with everyone really quickly there was a question it says once I have successfully registered my student for the lottery through Lottery is there a national registration I need to do before work lottery result results know there's nothing that you need to do once you've applied through lotteries please be sure to keep that confirmation email I would keep all paperwork that confirmation email should give you a registration or some kind of car station number next question when and how do you apply paly is your home. Once again if you are a student at Paul Revere if you live within Palace of the Palisades everything student must apply even if this is your homeschool you still must apply through Lottery the next question if we already have a student at Pala should we apply through the account through that account or open a new account if you still have a patient from a previous account that you used to to to apply for your this when you can use the same account Christus mayorkas see Heather answering when during the school day to the club take place are they at lunch on this different times I know some clubs meet during nutrition or during lunch also some may meet before or after school so once you Polly and you find the club that's in an interest that you're interested in you or you may ask those a concern in the class the teacher I'm sure you you do that at Paul Revere's Abbott continue doing that if there's if you ever have a concern to the teacher cuz they want to make sure that you are as successful as possible on sometimes we here oh my God I got all A's in Middle School all the sudden high school so it's it's really important to kind of work with your teacher and work with your classmates well study group bought a thank you for bringing that out that's really important today find out what works best for you if either of the ambassador's wanted kind of weigh in on that at all or any of the Ambassador what's the question you said its workload how to beat the castle from like that transition from middle school to high school like take advantage of like the support we have been out of work best with teachers oh go ahead go I would really take advantage the office hours I am a varsity athlete so definitely time management is like kind of key and high school coming from Paul Revere but definitely take advantage of the teachers office hours has helped especially for math my teacher doctor no help office hours every Tuesday and I went to like every single one of those and it was so helpful and also taking advantage of the math lab or the study center just was just really helpful during the softball season and just during the school year in general as for me my freshman year I don't remember it too well but I read I do remember I was able to, handle all that you know work I was not that I was receiving a lot of work but once the only thing is they mention like a meth lab study to study center and you know the office hours but one thing I do really remember Frosty in my mind is my junior year. the ark I'm junior year if you know it's kind of the year that's like your hardest year it was the classes all my extracurriculars for their Peak 600 Give an example like I'm a stage man at school so there are a lot of times where I have rehearsal every single day or are you going to have to stay at school until like 10 p.m. and with having to stay at school till 10, to having a lot of work for my junior gear like I had the ability to what is study center after school before personal get all that done you do go to my teachers during office hours so probably makes it super super flexible for students who not only have academic Excellence but you also have like great leadership experience says all of them and then I will say one thing and I'll turn it back over to Miss Tanya and dear Dylan if you could tell you're a trade sell one thing what advice would you give eighth grade sell edger coming to Tupac I'll definitely say the biggest thing is that time is your best friend I mean coming into a school with almost 3,000 kids coming from Paul Revere seems really scary to me and Anna being that little freshmen coming in not sure to what valuables for me it's kind of like the little things in the moment of supposed to be looking at the overview of all aliens being that I'll be there for four years and not to be too scared of just coming into school with a new person. I'm just going to find ways to be committed to make a present overtime or over the year so kind of misunderstanding that you are there for a long time and I'll be caught up in a little things with kind of plan ahead for your future and kind of make investment center what might be the best idea for your future awesome students can you talk about whether how important is if you don't get your first choice of pod cuz that's the only big deal I did not get my first choice in pod I think I didn't even get my second choice because I was scheduling conflict and I ended up in a pod I really like I'm it up in the Tesla pod which is like the environmental pot and I loved it like even though I think I wanted to get some meat are the drama pot at first but all the pods are great I think every I don't think anyone I know how to bad experience and pods so I didn't get my first choice just cuz of the scheduling issue but I ended up really liking it anyway yeah same situation as for me where I was in third into the Trump odd and I'm by no means a theater kid but a lot of times way that are pods are kind of develop is that it kind of made for everyone who might not be extremely interested in the topic the kind of have a good understanding think of what the topic might be so for drama we also do different things such as walk watch Nemo or watch Cars 2 but also kind of study Play-Doh and Shakespeare so it kind of given good range for kids to come to find a nice that they might be interested in it supposed to just focusing on please how to write place in Oxon please self ambassador for answering the questions I don't believe we have anything else there's some questions there left I believe I will be able to answer I know I see one last question about not selecting a preference I believe you can go back into your application I would log back into your application to see about being able to check all that apply for your preference order if you go to the Pali High Counseling page there's a lot of there's a webinar we did for ninth grade students some of it's like for student already in 9th grade but you can speak on that what the 4 years old look like at Valley so that could be helpful and we'll have some more information as you get accepted all right and thank you so much mr.
