Just as a reminder, the Genesis Invitational Golf Tournament is next week from February 15th-18th at the Riviera Country Club. This will cause an increase in traffic. Parents will not have access to the West Driveway. All pick-up and drop-off will be in the front of school in the circular driveway. In addition, there are left hand turn restrictions from Sunset onto Allenford and from Sunset and Mandeville Canyon in the afternoon-early evening. After school activities and late buses are canceled. More detailed information is on Schoology. We ask that you exercise patience during this time. The tournament supports PRIDE which is great for Revere. Last, but not least, this Friday, February 16th, is a Minimum day. School will dismiss at 12:43pm.

Have a great weekend and Super Bowl Sunday for all of the football fans! See you all next week.

February 3, 2024

Hello Revere Families,

First, I would like to thank everyone for participating in the Coffee with the Principal on Friday. Many questions were answered around safety and how Revere will overcome such safety concerns in the future. We are working on putting the questions that were answered in a file for everyone to access by the end of next week. In addition, Revere’s administration is working on a presentation for students pertaining to appropriate social media use and consequences for inappropriate usage. I will let you know what dates these assemblies will take place.

As many are aware, it is anticipated that Los Angeles will experience an inclement weather system next week. Revere is prepared with necessary emergency supplies if needed and administration will be on campus early Monday morning to ensure that any concerns with facilities are addressed.

There are several activities scheduled for the upcoming week. Our Leadership students will sell Valentine's grams during lunch. There is a PRIDE/PTSA meeting on Wednesday, February 7th at 8:30am. Please come to hear what new and exciting things our parents are planning. This meeting will be held via Zoom ( Meeting Id: 816 8395 5463 Password: PRIDE). There is a School Tour on Thursday, February 9th at 9am in the auditorium. If you are a prospective parent and would like to see our classrooms and campus, please do attend. You will be amazed at how wonderful Revere students, staff, and parents are as they lead you through the campus. Sign-ups are on our website. If you are a current Revere parent and looking to volunteer at the tour, please contact Ms. Elana Mabashov ([email protected]). Finally, on Saturday, February 10th we will have our Farm Day from 9-12pm. Please contact Ms. Robertson through Schoology for more information.

Thank you for your time. I hope for everyone to have a safe weekend.

January 26, 2024

I hope everyone is well as we head into the weekend. As conveyed earlier this week, we experienced an unfortunate incident at Revere and I would be remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to stress the importance of monitoring your student’s use of social media and knowing which accounts they have access to. There have been incidents where our students have made inappropriate posts without their parent’s knowledge. If you are a novice with social media, you may find it helpful to watch the following two videos from Common Sense Education, titled, “Social Media Basics for Parents” and “Parenting in a Digital Age”. Each video is short and provides important information. I would recommend taking some time to look at them for your own reference. At Revere, we provide staff and students with Digital Citizenship lessons throughout the year.

This week, most students have completed their iReady assessments. Teachers will reach out to provide you with information regarding your student’s progress shortly.

Next week, our Leadership program will start selling Valentine's grams during lunch for the entire week. On January 30th, Anna Riley (PSW) will hold a Parent Education Workshop on Substance Use Awareness from 6pm-7pm on Zoom. Finally, on Friday, February 2nd, we will have our Coffee with the Principal at 9am via Zoom. At that time, I will review Cyber Security along with other topics.

In closing, I hope that everyone has a safe and restful weekend. Take care, and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

January 19, 2024

PRIDE would like to hear from you! Our parent organization is funding many projects around campus and would like for Revere families and community members to participate in a survey that will help them rank the projects in order of importance. Please click on the link to participate in the survey https://forms.gle/TJagArfSnQw9XtKP9 .

I know that I sound like a broken record. However, I would like to remind you to not jay-walk across Allenford. Please be patient and allow your student to use the crosswalk at Brinkley. Additionally, please remember to respect our neighbors by not blocking their driveways or moving their trash cans to park.

Thank you for your time and have a wonderful and restful weekend!

January 12, 2024

Revere would like to thank the Office of LAUSD Board Member Nick Melvoin for selecting us to receive security cameras. Senior Advisor and District Director, Allison Holdorff Polhill provided parents with this information during the PRIDE board meeting this week. The project will occur in phases and be completed by the 2026 school year. PRIDE will also be sending out a survey to parents to prioritize the additional safety and beautification projects at Revere. So please be on the look-out for that survey soon.

Safety is always our number one priority. I would like to remind you to not jay-walk across Allenford. Please be patient and allow your student to use the crosswalk at Brinkley. Additionally, please remember to respect our neighbors by not blocking their driveways or moving their trash cans to park.

Finally, school will be closed this Monday, January 15, 2024 in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. I hope everyone has a wonderful extended weekend.

December 15, 2023

 Hello Revere Families,

As our first semester of school comes to an end, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and dedication to ensuring Revere Charter Middle School and Magnet maintains a welcoming learning environment. We value opportunities where all students are invited to participate in a variety of learning activities which are academically enriching and fulfilling. Simply take a moment to watch the videos of our Spirit Series performances and Winter Concerts, or read our Town Crier to see our students in action.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank PRIDE and our generous community for their continued support of Revere’s holiday celebration. Parents were very generous with their donations, including providing desserts, raffle gifts, and time to set up and clean up after the event. Furthermore, I’d like to recognize parent volunteers; Pablo and Rosario Hernandez, their son Anthony, and Mr. Amos for their time and efforts to bring our gym back to sparkling condition. Thanks to the other parents who came out on a Saturday to lend a hand Sarah Goldsmith, Jeff and Max Konecke, and Aucileia Rosa.

It is my wish that you all take time for yourselves. Enjoy your families and friends, eat well, laugh often and enjoy the beauty the holidays bring. I look forward to seeing everyone in the new year. Until then, take care.

Warmly,

Dr. Anthony

December 8, 2023

 Greetings Revere Families,

What a week! On Wednesday, Revere administration hosted a Town Hall, with our PRIDE President and Co-President; Ghazal Yashouafar and Monica Otero, Local District staff; Ms. Robinson and Ms. Wantz; LA School Police Sergeant Barti, and Board Member Representative, Allison Holdorff-Polhill from the Office of Nick Melvoin. Our team answered questions presented by Revere families and community members. Several of you have reached out and asked how to be a support to our school community. Currently we are securing cost estimates on privacy fencing near Sunset.

Next week is our last week of school before winter break. Please make sure you are checking Schoology and connecting with teachers to ensure all student work is turned in. You can reach teachers through Schoology or by going to our staff directory on our website at
www.paulreverems.com . Additionally, please continue to utilize our Homework Help Club or District provided tutoring through www.tutor.com/lausd for additional academic support.

On Monday, PRIDE will host a Family Breakfast in the Auditorium Garden. Do come out and meet our PRIDE board members, school administrators, and other parents while enjoying some great food and coffee. While you are here, drop off a toy or canned food as a part of our toy drive, hosted by our Leadership students and by our Community Service Club. All donations can be left in the Main Office. It’s not too late to sign your student up for Winter Academy from December 18-20 at Webster MS. Student applications can be found in the Main Office.

Our 6th grade students will take field trips next week to the Kirk Douglas Theater. They will get to see Dog Man based on the graphic novel series by Dav Pilkey. Winter concerts are here! Come and enjoy our Winter Concerts in our auditorium. The dates and times are as follows:

  • Tuesday, December 12th at 6pm-Choir
  • Wednesday, December 13th at 6pm-Orchestra
  • Thursday, December 14th at 6pm-Band

Finally, this Friday, December 15th is not only the last day of instruction before winter break, it is also a minimum day. School ends at 12:43pm. Remind your students to check the lost and found for that jacket or lunch box they can’t seem to find. Oh and don’t forget to bring home PE clothes that may need laundering.

December 2, 2023

 Hello Revere Families,

How quickly did this week come and go! Today our parents had the opportunity to view a video from our Every School Safe campaign on Preventing School Violence. In addition, the administration will hold grade level assemblies to review a similar video from our Every School Safe campaign on Preventing School Violence. After this video presentation, administration will review school-wide behavior expectations by grade level.

Our Sixth Grade Magnet students enjoyed their culminating activity at UCLA on Monday, November 27th. Students had the opportunity to present their Seismic Outreach group building projects to professional and student engineers. Students also participated in various other activities including a school tour.

It’s that time again! Our Leadership students are conducting a Toy Drive which continues through Dec. 13th. Bring a new or unopened toy to K1 before school or during Homeroom and receive a sweet treat. Leadership students are also selling Holiday Grams. Sales continue through Friday, Dec. 8th and are $1 per gram. Students may purchase grams during lunch by the Student Store. Grams will be delivered the last week of the semester. The Community Service Club is also hosting a canned food drive. Please bring your donations to the Main Office.

There will be a Town Hall meeting for parents this Wednesday, December 6th in the Auditorium starting at 6pm. Revere administration will address questions presented by parents and community members. Please see our website at www.paulreverems.com for more information on how to submit your questions.

Last but not least, Revere has welcomed a new member to our team. Ms. Christian Rivas is our School Climate Advocate. Part of her position is to help support positive school culture and climate through active listening skills, conflict resolution techniques, mindfulness, and other programs that support social-emotional learning. Her first student event will be a meditation activity during lunch. She is also planning multicultural activities to highlight and celebrate the incredible diversity on campus.

Thank you for your time and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Take care.

November 17, 2023

As we embark upon the holiday season, I would like to give thanks to the students, staff, parents/guardians, and community members who make Paul Revere Middle School a wonderful place to learn. Our students have opportunities throughout the school year to participate in some exciting activities thanks to our staff, parents/guardians, and PRIDE. This week our sixth graders participated in Spirit Series, a program that integrates History and drama culminating in a live performance for peers and parents. In addition, our students had the opportunity to meet and hold conversations with two guest speakers; Michael Swanson (Emmy Award Winner) and Cynthia Yuan Cheng (Illustrator/Cartoonist).

Once we return from our Thanksgiving break, we will start off the week with our Magnet UCLA field trip as well as other activities. Our 6th Grade Magnet students have been hard at work building “earthquake safe structures” in collaboration with UCLA’s Engineering Department. Monday, November 27th, they will get the opportunity to present these structures to professional and student engineers.

LAUSD is offering a Winter Academy from December 18-20th to provide enrichment and instructional opportunities to students. For more information, please visit https://www.lausd.org/winteracademy.

As we continue to offer great learning opportunities, we also want to ensure that all students are safe and respected on campus. With the unrest in the Middle East, we have observed a rise in inappropriate language among students on campus. To derail these behaviors, administrators and counselors have provided school wide assemblies to review and discuss Revere school expectations of treating everyone with respect, as well as the consequences of not adhering to the rules. Parents of the students involved are contacted and provided with information and resources as it relates to the situation at hand. I understand the apprehension some families may have; therefore, I am offering a Town Hall for parents to express their concerns, in an organized and respectful manner. This event will occur in our school auditorium prior to winter break. Our partnership is crucial to the success of campus safety and student learning. I hope you will join us.

Enjoy the week off, spending quality time with family and friends. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,
Dr. Anthony, Principal

Finally, Friday, November 10th school will be closed in observance of Veterans Day.

October 13, 2023

Dear Revere Families,

Our hearts are with our students, families, and staff impacted by the events in Israel and Gaza. At Revere MS we are working diligently to ensure our students and staff model respect and tolerance for all cultures. I ask that all families have a discussion with your student about being respectful to those who may be different from ourselves. Parents and caregivers, we understand your concerns and we appreciate your willingness to communicate with us. In the past weeks, LAUSD and Revere have increased school monitoring with local law enforcement agencies and partners, increased supervision, and encouraged staff and students that if they “see something, say something”. There have been instances where our middle school students may not have made good choices with their words or actions. Please know that this does not necessarily constitute hate, but simply kids not understanding the impact of their actions. In situations such as these, our counselors, mental health experts and administrators work with the student and their families to ensure such behaviors do not occur again. We understand that is an emotional time and I want you to know that we always have the safety of all students and staff as a priority.

There are a few reminders for upcoming activities for next week. Our BSU club will host a donut sale on Tuesday during lunch near Town Hall. LAUSD, Division of Special Education, is offering a parent workshop on Dyslexia on Wednesday, October 18th from 9-10am via Zoom at https://lausd.zoom.us/j/83738339520. Finally, on Thursday, October 19th, we will have our Great Shake drill during period 3. Remember parents, our campus will close for the drill and re-open once the drill is complete.

Thank you for your time. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the administration with any concerns or questions.

October 6, 2023

I would like to introduce Ms. Elana Mabashov as our new Assistant Principal at Paul Revere. Ms. Mabashov was our Magnet Coordinator for nearly eight years. She comes to us with over twenty years of experience in education. She will now be over our Special Education program, 504’s, and Health and Safety. We welcome her to her new role with open arms and l know she will be a great addition to our administrative team.

October festivities are happening at Revere, so let’s talk about some of the fun stuff that’s planned! During lunch, students have the opportunity to make bracelets for our Wellness Wednesday activity and there is a Latin Paint Party to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month on Friday. In addition to our lunch time activities, Ms. Gualano, our amazing librarian, is organizing multiple field trips this school year. Some of the field trips will include visiting local college campuses, museums, theaters and more! Our 6th and 7th graders will head up to Pali Camp next week. Nearly 300 kiddos will get to have an amazing experience in the outdoors with science experiments, physical activities, and sports. College Day is every Monday! So all students and staff are encouraged to show up in their college attire to school. At Revere we want to get students excited about college! Finally, we have Farm Day this Saturday. Come out and join the fun from 9am-12pm. Future dates for this activity can be found on our school calendar.

I know I sound like a broken record; however, 10 week progress report grades are near. Please check your Schoology account to monitor your student’s progress. Keep on-going communication with your child’s teacher(s) throughout the year. Education is a partnership and we want parents to engage with the school community to ensure positive learning outcomes for their student(s).

As a reminder, safety is a priority on campus. Parents, the West Driveway is one-way. Please enter from Allenford and exit onto Sunset. In addition, encourage students to use the crosswalk when crossing the street. It takes more time, but it could potentially save a life.

September 30, 2023

Activities occur throughout the month and include; yoga, meditation workshop, scavenger hunt, mindful eating, bracelet making, and painting rocks and canvas. Additionally, October is also Hispanic Heritage Month. Students are encouraged to participate in Culture Day, where students can wear any clothing that represents their culture. There is also a Latin Paint Party where students will create their own piece of art. In addition to all of the fun activities above, the month of October will also host Red Ribbon Week from October 24-October 27. Finally, on Halloween, there will be a Carnival with more fun and treats! Additional information regarding these activities can be found on the school’s website.

During the month of October, administrators and counselors will present another mandated training from LAUSD’s Every Student Safe Campaign on Suicide Awareness and Prevention to students. Families will also receive the training during Coffee with the Principal which will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 8:30am via Zoom at https://lausd.zoom.us/j/88022787896 .

The Great Shake Out will be held Thursday, October 19th, 2023. This is an opportunity for staff, students, and families to practice what to do if a large earthquake happens. I encourage families to take the time to inventory your home to ensure your home is ready for a major earthquake. Remember, we can never be too safe. Information for parents on what to expect during an emergency can be found HERE.

Finally, ten week grades are approaching. Please check in with your students regularly to stay on top of any missing assignments or assessments. Please contact teachers if you have any questions concerning student work or grades. If your Schoology account does not work, please reach out to our counseling office for support. LAUSD offers free tutoring. Please visit the website at https://www.lausd.org/Page/18683 for more information on how to access the free tutoring services.

I wish everyone a restful and peaceful weekend. Parents and caregivers, please do not forget to take care of yourself. Do something, even if it's very small, that brings you joy.

Respectfully,

Dr. Anthony, Principal

September 23, 2023

 Hello Revere Families,

Spirit Week was amazing! Students and staff participated with great enthusiasm. We saw students dressing up in 80’s fashion, Barbie pink, and sports gear. What a great way to bring in the three-day weekend.
Next week, we will have several activities. Our wonderful counseling department will hold grade level assemblies during homeroom. These assemblies will review various topics, including, academic supports, social emotional supports, school-wide expectations, student behavioral expectations, culmination requirements and school activities. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions on any of the listed topics.

The ten week grading period will be here in the “blink of an eye”. So let’s stay on top of our students' academic progress. Families, please make sure that you are checking in with your students about missing assignments. We encourage you to reach out to the teachers and set up a time to ask questions you may have about class work and homework. Revere offers our Homework Help Club during lunch and after school. LAUSD also offers free tutoring for all students.

As always, thank you for your support in making Paul Revere Charter Middle School a wonderful place for students to grow and learn. Also as a friendly reminder, there is no school on Monday, September 25th. I wish everyone a joyful and safe weekend .

With gratitude,

Dr. Anthony, Principal

Well this may not be as fun, but very important, parents please be careful and keep your speeds down when dropping off and picking up students in our driveways. It is best to have your student enter/exit the vehicle on the side next to the sidewalk. In addition, please do not allow your student to jay-walk across Allenford. In line with safe practices, Revere will hold our next emergency drill next on Wednesday, September 20th during Period 6.

Enjoy your weekend and remember to take a little time for yourself.

September 9, 2023

Hello Amazing Revere Families!

As usual, we had a blast at school! Many of our lunchtime clubs began this week. We also had several activities to educate students and staff on Suicide Prevention and Awareness. For example, today students and staff were able to meet and pet Trixie, LAUSD’s facility dog, used to provide moments of happiness. The fabulous Ms. Riley, our school’s PSW, also provided some Wellness Wednesday activities to our homeroom teachers. We want students and families to know Revere cares about their social emotional well being. Thank you, to everyone who came to Coffee with the Principal. I plan to hold a meeting on the first Thursday of every month. Each month we will talk about topics related to our Every School Safe campaign in addition to other school events.

This Saturday, September 8th is Farm Work Day! Our agriculture teacher, Ms. Robertson, will provide direction on how to care for the animals and their upkeep. If you love animals and want to participate, the project will begin at 9am.

Let’s talk about academics! Homework Help Club begins September 11th (Yay!!!) Students can get support from teachers after school on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm and during lunchtime. More information is found on our school website. In addition, LAUSD offers free tutoring. Please visit https://www.tutor.com/LAUSD on how to get started. This program is available 24/7 for homework help, test prep, and writing review. We are continuing to take our iReady diagnostic assessments. These assessments replace the STAR assessment and are provided during ELA and Math. This is an assessment the LAUSD requires to provide teachers information on student’s strengths and needs. Once the assessment is completed, teachers will also be able to provide target assignments during class to support learning throughout the school year. Please see the iReady Family Guide for information.

Now for the fun stuff! September 15th is Make Up Picture Day! Wooohoo!! If your child did not take a school photo, please make sure they are at school and on time that day. Packages and pricing are located on our website. School tours will begin, September 14th. If you or anyone you know is interested in seeing Revere, please attend this event from 9am-11am. You are also able to sign up here.

Have a wonderful weekend, and make sure to take time to do something YOU enjoy!

September 2, 2023

Wow! What a packed week of activities we had last week. I want to thank everyone for a successful Revere Family Breakfast and Back to School Night! Parents were able to meet with teachers and have a look inside the classroom, learn about their student’s curriculum, and explore our campus. In addition, thanks to those of you who participated in our Book Fair. Many teachers will get their “wish list” granted because of your generosity.

In the upcoming week, we have multiple activities planned. Our students will participate in the District wide IReady testing. This has replaced the STAR assessments provided in previous years. iReady is a diagnostic test to provide teachers with information on where students are. It is used as a tool to plan instruction. Additionally, our lunch clubs will be up and running next week for students. On Thursday, I will host a Coffee with the Principal via Zoom. On our agenda will be information from LAUSD, “Every School Safe” initiative. Also September is suicide prevention month and our PSW will host Wellness Wednesday presentations during homeroom on basic coping skills and how to ask for help. Then on Friday, our Ms. Riley will have Paws and Relax with Trixie, LAUSD’s facility dog to provide students with joyful experiences in small moments.

I hope everyone is having a great Labor Day weekend. Please take time to do something you enjoy, even if that means doing nothing. Self care is important for everyone. I look forward to seeing our students back in school on Tuesday.

Sincerely,
Dr. Anthony, Principal

 Hello Families,

Students and staff have accomplished so much this past week! There were grade level assemblies with our amazing counseling team, and we began the book fair in our fabulous, newly remodeled library. We have many upcoming activities as we embark upon another week of school.. First, there is a “Revere Family Welcome Breakfast” on Wednesday, August 30th from 8-10:30am in the Auditorium Garden. This breakfast will be hosted by PRIDE for our parents. Come out and mingle with administrators and board members, while you enjoy some coffee and treats!

Back to School Night will be Thursday, August 31st . This is when parents will have the opportunity to learn about their children’s classes, the curriculum, and expectations. Please download the schedule from our website for exact times based on your child’s grade level. While you are here for Back to School Night, please stop by the Library to visit the Book Fair. There are many titles to choose from for both parents and students. You will also be able to meet our Librarian, Ms. Gualano, who is a wonderful resource for our students and school.

As we journey through the school year, I would like students to get involved in activities on campus. In doing so, students can build new friendships, learn exciting information, and just have fun! One way to do this is to join a lunch club! Currently we have over 20 different lunch clubs which are sponsored by our teachers and staff. Encourage your children to participate in one or more clubs. (Check our website for a list of available clubs.) The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, August 30th, so don’t miss out!

Also, don’t forget that school will be closed on Friday, September 1st and Monday, September 4th, in observance of Labor Day.

Most importantly, safety is a priority at Revere. I want to remind everyone to please use the crosswalk at all times. It is imperative that students and parents do not jay-walk across Allenford. I ask that you exercise patience during dismissal. Lastly, please be respectful of our neighbors by not blocking their driveways.

 Hello Revere Families,

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you for all of your effort and hard work in getting your children to Revere everyday. It was heartwarming to see so many happy faces, picture taking, hugs, and well wishes. What a wonderful first week we had in welcoming new families, new teachers, new classes, and new friends! Revere students and staff have already accomplished so much; learning how to navigate the campus, opening lockers, and our first evacuation drill! In addition, teachers are continually working towards building positive relationships with their students while communicating classroom routines and expectations. School-wide expectations and rules were further reviewed during class assemblies. Next week, our counselors will conduct grade level assemblies to review various topics, including work habits, study skills, and staying on top of homework. Let’s keep this momentum going!

Enjoy the weekend and make time to rest and relax for the upcoming week.

Sincerely,
Dr. Anthony, Principal
