GENERAL ELECTIVES

AGRICULTURE & THE ENVIRONMENT:
Learn about plants, animals, food, nature and technology with hands on lessons at our newly expanded school farm. Make a landscape design using CAD software, grow fruits & veggies, try new foods, take home a plant you grow, help take care of school animals, work with garden tools, go hiking, & explore the exciting & unique career opportunities in agriculture & natural sciences. Reading, writing, & note taking support project-based learning. Get outside and learn about the world around you.

BEGINNING BAND:
Learn how to play flute, clarinet, sax, trumpet, trombone, tuba or drums and be part of Revere's legendary Band Program! We will learn how to read music and understand rhythms as well, so you don't need any musical experience to join. Come be part of a real live band!
 
BEGINNING ORCHESTRA:
Learn how to play Violin, Viola, Cello, or Bass and be part of Revere's legendary String Program! We will learn how to read music and understand rhythms as well, so you don't need any musical experience to join. (You should, though, be pretty good at finishing your homework and sitting up straight -- we get a lot done!) Come be part of a real live orchestra!
FYI: This is NOT a guitar class.
 
CHOIR:
Choir is open to all interested students in all grades. It is open to both experienced singers and students who are beginners and want to try something new. There is a non-auditioned spot for all interested 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Do you want to learn to be a better performer? Would you like free instruction from a professional singer on vocal technique? Would you like to be part of a group of friends (we are like a family) who share a similar interest? You are never required to sing by yourself in front of others.You can volunteer to do solos, or if you prefer, just sing anonymously in the larger group. You will learn a lot about how to read music. You will make some new friends. It is fun!
 
DIGITAL IMAGING:
Students are taught the basic tools and skills of Photoshop Creative Suite using the iMac lab. Students create projects throughout the year to develop logical thinking and inspire creativity which also include topics ranging from coding, music projects,animation, and even 3D modeling and printing. (course title: DIG IMAG MS)
 
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY:
Learn about taking pictures and using a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera. Learn the basics about film speed, aperture, and shutter speed. (course title: PHOTO MS)
 
FILM & SCREENWRITING:
Students will study the art of screenwriting and the film medium by participating in collaborative environments and/or scenarios with the goal of developing, writing, casting, directing and producing their own short film. (course title: TH MEDIA MS)
 
INTRO TO ART:
Learn the elements and principles of art. Focus is on 2D skills and multimedia projects. Express your creativity through different media such as color pencils, oil pastels, pencils, and other traditional materials. (course title: GENERAL ART)
 
INTRO TO COMPUTER SCIENCE GAME DESIGN:
This course introduces game design and development with the MIT Scratch coding environment. Students learn programming concepts including sequence, conditionals, loops, operators, and variables while developing creative game design skills. Design elements include player interactivity, user-experience and genre specific dynamics. Game genres include Racing, Platform,Escape, Launcher, Quest (RPG), and others. Some game designs involve physical computing applications by interfacing with
